Rohit’s record will stand the test of time

-

It was another one-sided affair in the fourth game and, barring a miracle, India should wrap up the series 5-0. With the quality of batting India have, they put the opponents out of the game, and that is exactly what happened in the fourth ODI.

The person responsible for India’s massive win was the outstanding Rohit Sharma. It is hard to imagine someone getting 264 runs in 50 overs. Though in the game of cricket it is difficult to predict, but I have a feeling this record will stand the test of time.

Rohit was coming out of injury and was under pressure with Ajinkya Rahane and Shikhar Dhawan scoring lots of runs. So, the innings he played

EVERY PLAYER GOES THROUGH HIGHS AND LOWS AND ROHIT CAN LOOK UP TO THIS INNINGS FOR MOTIVATION

not just got him a record but also instilled in him the belief that he could perform under pressure.

Every player goes through highs and lows and Rohit can look up to this innings for motivation in tough times. It is amazing that four double 100s have been scored in world cricket in the last four years and this is the direct effect of T20 cricket.

There was talk about who would open in the ODIs in Australia. I think all those questions should be put on the backburner till the tour starts. Rohit, Rahane and Dhawan are all part of the Test team and it will be best decided based on the form of these batters in those conditions. This Indian ODI batting line-up can be dangerous in any part of the world once it gets going.

The best thing about them is they play with the same intensity while batting first or chasing. In the current series, not just the batting but also the bowling has stood out.

Umesh Yadav has bowled well and picked wickets, while Dhawal Kulkarni snared four in the last game. He is a very hard worker; not the most gifted in the pace department yet never short on effort.
