Asaram, 4 others booked for threat message to cop
PRESSURE TACTICS SHO, in-charge of the godman’s security during hearings, has complained about a WhatsApp message from his followers
JODHPUR: Self-styled godman Asaram who is presently lodged in a Jodhpur jail in connection with a case pertaining to the sexual assault of a minor girl, is in the news again.
This time Jodhpur police have registered another case against him and his personal caretaker Shiva — who is out on bail in the same sexual assault case — and three of his followers for allegedly threatening the station house officer (SHO) of Udaimandir police station with life on an instant messaging (IM) app called WhatsApp.
“Shiva and other followers of Asaram are spreading messages that they want to kill me and my family members,” SHO Harji Ram Patel alleged in his FIR.

self-styled godman’s case and many of Asaram’s followers pressurise police to allow them to meet the godman on the hearing days, to which the SHO did not give in.
“On Friday, one message was doing the rounds on a WhatsApp group of one of Asaram’s follower. The message mentioned teaching a lesson to the SHO and hurting his family members,” a police official said, adding that the message was probably circulated to encour-

age followers to attack the cop.
Asaram has been named in the FIR given by the SHO while saying that his personal caretaker Shiva is trying to encourage other followers at Asaram’s behest. Three other Asaram followers Roshan, Sandeep and Chetan have also been named in the FIR.
“Assistant commissioner of police (Mandore) has been asked to investigate the matter,” the officer further said.
