THINGS YOU WOULD DO TO RESHAPE INDIA
SUSHIL KUMAR, Olympian
If we want India to progress, the first thing we have to do is to make it corruption free. Corruption is one of the biggest hurdles in any country’s growth as it restricts deserving people from getting their due. Secondly, we have to focus on education as it is pivotal to our success. Thirdly, we have to give equal importance and rights to girls and treat them on par with boys.
PRASOON JOSHI , Writer, adguru
Mobilising the voice of women in places of leadership will shape our nation uniquely. Remodel the basic unit — our villages — and rebalance development. Citizens and business houses should proactively participate in social issues. We have to root out malnutrition that plagues the children of our country. The country’s youth is its biggest strength and must be guided right.
NR NARAYANA MURTHY, Co-founder, Infosys
Firstly, reduce friction for businesses to zero so that more entrepreneurs, more jobs with higher disposable income are generated. Secondly, an easy to understand, easy to interpret and easy to implement tax system is needed. Thirdly, use this tax money without corruption to provide basic common good: education, shelter, nutrition etc for the poor and create infrastructure.
SARDAR SINGH,
Hockey player, India
If we want India to progress, the focus should be on better education. An educated citizen can be an asset in all facets of the country’s development sphere, including better infrastructure and better industries. Secondly, focus on development in the rural areas too. By ignoring villages, we can’t think of progress. Thirdly, a better and affordable medical facility for all is a must.
HANSAL MEHTA, Filmmaker
I feel that the onus of the change is on us. We must stop expecting change from our leaders and perform our civic duties proactively without being reminded by our leaders. We need to understand that we are a diverse society and it is our biggest strength. We should also focus on equality for everyone and inclusive growth. We also need to look beyond traditional political structures.
MITTU CHANDILYA, CEO,

India is still growing and along with any growth, there needs to be focus, priorities, investment and persistence. The key area where there needs to be focus is Brand India. This is all comprehensive and includes tourism, education, job creation, culture and society. We must show by example that India is the place that our youth need to invest in.
