UP govt presents ` 14,856 cr supplementary budget
Over ` 14k crore demands presented in the state assembly for the current fiscal year
LUCKNOW: With emphasis on power, rural development and infrastructure sectors, chief minister Akhilesh Yadav tabled supplementary demands of ` 14,856 crore for the current fiscal year in the state assembly on Monday.

` 14,856 crore for the current fiscal year in the state assembly on Monday. Apart from meeting additional financial requirements of various departments, the demands were also aimed at boosting infrastructural development, including power sector in the state.
Laying stress on urban infrastructure development, the government has sought ` 25 crore for various development authorities, including the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA). The government has also planned an expenditure of ` 2 crore on installation of more lifts in the residential flats of bureaucrats at CSI Towers in Gomti Nagar and ` 25 lakh for maintenance of transit hostel of civil services institute in Lucknow.
Under the heritage golden ark scheme in the state capital, the government has planned an additional expenditure of ` 8 crore for lighting and other facilities and ` 30 lakh for beautification of Shahid Smarak.
Another ` 1.20 crore has been sought for the construction of a meeting hall at Samajwadi Party headquarters-Bungalow No 19 on Vikramaditya Marg here.
Moreover, additional fund allocation of ` 4,525 crore to power sector indicated the government’s commitment to further improve electricity supply in the state.
The government has also sought approval for ` 100 crore loan to Agra Development Authority (ADA) for the construction of inner ring road. The industry department has sought ` 4 crore to provide more facilities to exporters. As a part of revival package, the ailing UPICA and state handicraft corporation would be given ` 10 crore and ` 20 crore loans respectively.
The horticulture department has sought ` 17.29 lakh for development of greenery around Saifai (Etawah) airstrip. Similarly, ` 10 crore has been earmarked for the construction of a stadium in Saifai and ` 5 crore for lion safari in Etawah. The government has also sought house approval for
` 50.24 crore for further expansion of rural institute of medical sciences, Saifai and ` 1 crore for pay- ment of wages of employees of the institute. The government has also made budgetary allocation for medical upgradation facilities in Agra, Kanpur, Allahabad, Jhansi, Meerut, Azamgarh, Jaunpur, Badaun, Saharanpur and Gorakhpur. There was a provision of ` 10 crore for Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of medical sciences, Lucknow.
While urban development department headed by Mohammad Azam Khan has sought ` 18 crore for development of facilities in and around Mohammad Ali Jauhar University, Rampur, the culture department has planned construction of an open air auditorium (pandal) in the university with an expenditure of ` 2 crore. The culture department has also sought ` 5 lakh for Begum Akhtar Award, ` 50 lakh for All India Kaifi Azmi Academy and
` 2 crore for conservation of Chatar Manzil.
The government has also planned to purchase four AC buses worth ` 80 lakh for the transportation of security personnel deployed in the security of the chief minister.
While a demand of ` 200 crore was made under national rural drinking water programme,
` 468 crore and ` 670 crore have been earmarked for Indira Awas Yojana and Lohia rural housing scheme respectively. The chief minister had recently accepted the demand of Gram Rozagar Sewak for their pending pay- ment. Thus under national rural employment guarantee scheme, the government has sought ` 60 crore for payment to these contract workers.
In order to shift and re-settle available infrastructure of animal husbandry department at Chak Ganjaria farm Lucknow (where IT city is now planned) to other places, the government has made a provision of ` 14.76 crore in supplementary demands. The PWD has sought ` 25 crore for more railway over bridges (ROBs) in UP and additional ` 50 crore for connecting districts with fourlane. An additional ` 50 crore has been sought for state highways. To promote solar light in rural areas, there is a provision of ` 28 crore in the demands. Moreover, the social welfare department has asked for additional grant of
` 1.30 crore for Dr Shakuntala Mishra university for physically challenged in Lucknow.
