GORAKHPUR: Government railway police (GRP) arrested two culprits for allegedly eve-teasing a married woman and also harassing her husband and ailing daughter on board the Awadh Assam (15910) Express late on Saturday night.

The culprits were identified as Baljeet Singh, 35, and Paldev Singh, 38, both residents of Sirsa, Haryana. Police also recovered bottles of alcohol from their possession.

As per reports, the incident took place in AC (A1) coach of the Awadh Assam Express. Dr Sabir along with his wife and ailing two-year-old daughter were sitting in the A1 coach of the train while the culprits were occupying the berths in front of the doctor couple.

Dr Sabir, an ophthalmologist, was going along with his family from Lucknow to Katihar. During the six-hour journey, the culprits allegedly began clicking photographs of the doctor’s wife.

When the couple objected, the duo started misbehaving with them and started passing obscene remarks against the woman.

The culprits continued pass- ing lewd comments and when Dr Sabir tried to give syrup to his daughter, who had high fever, the duo stopped him from doing so and instead forced him to have the syrup.

Dr Sabir, later told mediapersons, that in the absence of GRP/RPF personnel they sought the help of a TTE, who in turn advised them to get their seats changed.

Relief came when the train stopped at Gorakhpur junction at around 11.30 pm on Saturday. Dr Sabir immediately rushed to the GRP office and informed the personnel about the situation.

The GRP immediately swung into action and arrested the culprits. However, they could not find the mobile phone with which they had taken the photographs.
