Nitish takes election campaign to people’s doorsteps
PATNA: Residents of Paschim Darwaza here got a surprise on Thursday when they saw chief minister Nitish Kumar at their doorstep. The CM was trying his hand in giving a personal touch to the election campaign through public contact programme, ‘Har Ghar Dastak, Ghar Ghar Dastak’.
The chief minister knocked on the doors of dozens of homes in the eastern part of the capital city, taking feedback from the people about eight years of his rule and seeking suggestions to cover the grey areas.
The chief minister began his campaign with a visit to the Badi Patan Devi temple before heading to the Paschim Darwaza area. He also visited a mosque in Belwarganj. He told residents at Shiv Chakmal village that the campaign would see 10 lakh JD(U) workers knock on over one crore doors in the next 30 days.
Clarifying on the event being reminiscent of the BJP’s May 2014 Lok Sabha poll slogan — “har har Modi, ghar ghar Modi”, JD(U) leaders said: “For Modi, it was just a slogan. Nitish Kumar is actually doing it.”
Accusing the Narendra Modiled NDA government of failing to deliver on its poll promises, the CM said: “Black money stashed abroad is yet to be brought back and Bihar is yet to get special status. They have nothing to show about keeping a poll promise.”
Alle ging that the Union ministers have become arrogant after their party came to power, he said they visit Bihar just to criticise. “My priority is to maintain law and order, and to cater to all religious groups. You will feel proud of the state that I am about to develop,” he said, indicating he was ready for another term in office.
“A day will come when outsiders would come to Bihar in search of jobs,” he added.
