Chandroday­a and Annu to lead UP teams

Ace Indian throwers Chandroday­a Narayan Singh of Allahabad and Annu Rani of Meerut would be leading men and women teams of Uttar Pradesh at the 55th National Inter-State Seniors Athletics Championsh­ips, starting July 10-13 at the JL Nehru Stadium in Chennai.

Chairman of the UP Athletics Associatio­n’s selection committee Neeraj Kumar informed that athletes were selected on the basis of their performanc­e in the 23rd UP State Open Athletics Championsh­ips.

“Some athletes, who are in the national camps but have qualified the minimum standards of participat­ion fixed by Athletics Federation of India would also be representi­ng the state at the nationals,” UPAA’s secretary PK Srivastava said.

A camp of the state athletes has already started at the Madam Mohan Malviya Stadium in Allahabad on Thursday, and it would continue till July 8.
