First batch of Urdu IAS coaching from next week

LUCKNOW: Rafique-ul-Mulk Mulayam Singh Yadav Urdu IAS Study Centre at Para Mohan Road would be having its first batch of students from next week. About 50 students appearing in the civil services examinatio­n with Urdu as a subject or medium will get free coaching and guidance from experts at the centre.

The students have been selected from all over the country through a competitiv­e examinatio­n. The institute has been set up to increase the number of Urdu speaking civil servants in the country.

Nawaz Deobandi, chairman, Urdu Akademi, who is also heading the IAS study centre said around 1,200 aspirants applied for the 50 seats. However, only 738 forms were accepted and 543 candidates appeared in the entrance test. He said that 17 candidates were in the waiting list.

“Through Urdu medium students, we wish to increase the percentage of minorities in civil services. This would be a great service to the community,” he said.

T he chair man said t he institute received applicatio­ns from several states including Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, West Bengal, Maharashtr­a, UP , Bihar and Jharkhand.

“These students would be having exposure to digital classrooms, WiFi facility, conference hall, well-furnished library and hostel facilities which are a boon for any student aspiring to appear in civil services exam,” he added.

Deobandi said the academy has sought help of best faculty from all over the country. The academy already has an advisory committee of retired IPS officers and former vice-chancellor­s who will continue to interact with selected candidates.
