My son had told me ‘see, something is not right’, but I said her parents may not be happy with it, so she might have moved to the US... that I told him PETER MUKERJEA, Indrani Mukerjea’s husband and former media honcho

As details of Sheena Bora murder started to unravel on Wednesday morning, former Star India CEO Peter Mukherjea seemed to be unaware of Sheena being his wife’s daughter and not sister as it was earlier believed.

Mukherjea spoke to news-channels on Wednesday morning in which he expressed “shock” over the turn of events. “I am dumbstruck by this level of criminality” he told channel while adding that he will co-operate with the police probe. Mukherjea said that he was introduced to Sheena and Mikhail as Indrani’s sister and brother. The Boras and Indrani often spoke in Assamese and he couldn’t follow their conversations, he said.

He said he had not spoken to Indrani since her arrest and he was not aware of any dispute over assets and property between Indrani and her children.

Peter Mukherjea said he believed Indrani’s family had decided to send Sheena to the US because of her relationship with his son Rahul. He added Rahul had told him several times there was “something fishy” about the reports that Sheena had been sent to the US.

His wedding with Indrani in 2002 was attended by only one of her relatives, Peter Mukherjea said. “I was 16 years older (to her), and there was a disagreement and I was told that her parents didn’t want to meet (me),” he said.

Indrani had also turned down his suggestions that they should visit Assam and her hometown Guwahati, he added.

Mukerjea told a channel that he is not on Facebook, but was “shown these pictures of Los Angeles or wherever she (Sheena) was”. “I didn’t have her contact number. My son had told me ‘see, something is not right’, but I said her parents may not be happy with it, so she might have moved to the US... that I told him... He (Peter’s son) didn’t talk to me then.” he said.
