Zakir felicitated for saving cow from deep well
LUCKNOW: Three days after he saved a cow that had fallen into a 60-feet deep well, 20-yearold Mohammad Zakir was felicitated by t he district administration for his bravery on Monday.
Senior administrative officials presented Zakir with an appreciation certificate and a bouquet of flowers.
They have also recommended and monetary relief from the chief minister discretion fund for the treatment of his father.
A carpenter by profession, Aishbagh resident Zakir had gone down the well on Friday to save the cow, injuring his own leg in the process.
“I was passing by the well when I saw a crowd gathered around a deep well. I saw a cow had fallen inside the well and was clearly struggling to get out,” he said.
“I decided to get inside it and save the cow. The cow was struggling for life. Had I not gone 60 feet deep into the well to save it, it would have died,” he added.
Zakir said the cow hit it twice fearing for its life, following which he spent several minutes stroking the animal to calm it down.
“The well was very dark and the animal was scared. So I spent some time rubbing her gently to make the cow realize that I was not going to harm it,” he shared.
“Finally, the animal calmed down and began to trust me and I could get it out,” said the boy.
