Shubham shines in APJ Kalam Trophy
LUCKNOW: An all-round performance by Shubham Vishwakarma helped Sir Len Hutton House (SLHH) win APJ Abdul Kalam Trophy Cricket Tournament, defeating Sir Richard Hadlee House (SRHH) by 70 runs, at the Awadh School Ground here on Monday. Shubham first struck 75-ball 52, which contained five fours and two sixes as Sir Len Hutton House score 171 for nine in the stipulated 40 overs, and then took three for 32 to see the rivals collapsing for paltry 101 in 22.2 overs. He was later adjudged best all-rounder. Prasoon Tyagi (best bowler) and Aniket Singh (best batsman) were also given special awards.
RISHABH EXCELS Rishabh Nigam took seven wickets for just 11 as JK Public School beat Maharishi Vidya Mandir by 55 runs in a league match of the 17th Avinash Chaturvedi Memorial Inter-School Cricket Tournament here on Monday. In other matches of the day, St Mary’s Inter College beat UP Sainik School by 65 runs, Sacred Heart School beat Rasphil Academy by 31 runs, and Unity College scored a thrilling sevenrun win against Lucknow Public College.
CRICKET TOURNEY The 2nd Superhouse Champions Trophy Twenty20 Cricket Tournament begins on Tuesday, at the Delhi Public School here in Jankipuram. All the teams would be getting two league matches to play before making it to the knockout rounds.
CAL NOTICE Cricket Association Lucknow on Monday barred all its units/ players from participating in an authorised cricket tournament. CAL secretary KM Khan states that teams/players must enquire about the authenticity of an event before participating. They can verify this from the CAL officials. He, however, said that action would be taken against clubs/units/players, if they don’t obey the CAL’s instructions.
