Kendriya Vidyalaya lift football trophy

LUCKNOW: Kendriya Vidyalaya (AMC) won the Chitransh Singh Memorial Football Tournament, defeating Chowk Stadium 6-5 in tie breaker, at the Chowk Stadium here on Sunday. Both the teams staged a fine play, but remained goalless at the end of the regulation time. In tie break, KV boys managed to score all six opportunit­ies. ARJUN SHINES Arjun Singh emerged the champion in the open group of the 45th leg of the Avijai Active Chess Tournament, at the Avijai Chess Academy here on Sunday. Arjun and Kshiteej Goswami both scored five points each, but on the basis of the better tie break score Arjun stood first. Kshiteej and Sunil Srivastava finished second and third, respective­ly. In the under20 category, Somendra Shekhar, Dushyant Yadav and Satwik Gupta scored four points each, but again on the basis of the better tie break scores, they grabbed the first three spots. In the under-14 category, Pranju scored 4.5 points to grab the first position, whereas Amartya Sagar Pandey and Aditya Mishra finished second and third, respective­ly.

Utkarsh Dixit bagged the top position in under-12 category. Aaditya Kumar Singh and Shikhar Shukla finished second and third, respective­ly. LE GRAND WIN Le Grand defeated Indian strikers by eight wickets to make it to the final of the Sai Autumn League Twenty20 Night Cricket Tournament being played for the Pepsi Trophy, at the Sai Greens Ground on Saturday night. In other quarterfin­als, Raj and Sajid beat Tanveer and Azam 25-10, 18-23, 21-20.
