CBCID to probe custodial death of ‘terrorist’: HC
LUCKNOW: The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court has directed the CBCID to probe custodial death matter of alleged terrorist Khalid Mujahid in June 2013, when he was returning from Faizabad district court after his appearance to Barabanki district jail. The court also stayed the proceedings of this case, pending before Barabanki CJM court and directed to handed over record of the case to the CBCID, the petitioners counsel said.
A division bench of justice Ajai Lamba and justice Brijesh Kumar Srivastva-ll gave this judgment and order on Monday on a writ petition, seeking direction for CBI probe in this incident. Petitioners counsel Farhan Naqvi said that earlier, the state government had recomended a CBI inquiry into this matter, which was refused by the CBI. This refusal order was challenged in this petition. The police, after investigation, had filed final (closure) report before the Barabanki court. The petitioners had filed their protest application against it there, the petitioners counsel said.
