WILL MAKE 4-LANE ROAD BETWEEN RAE BARELI AND ALLAHABAD: NHAI TELLS HC
LUCKNOW: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) informed the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court that a four-lane road will be constructed between Rae Bareli and Allahabad. NHAI counsel had filed an affidavit and informed the court about this decision, which was taken at a meeting between secretary, ministry of road transport and highways with chief secretary UP and chairman NHAI. The court directed that the state government will ensure cooperation as required by NHAI in this work.
A division bench of justice Shabihul Hasnain and justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya gave this order on a PIL, pending since 2013. The court had taken sou moto cognizance in the matter of Lucknow-Rae Bareli-Allahabad road. Earlier, it had directed widening and repairing of this road to the authorities to prevent road mishaps.
NHAI counsel has also undertaken to give an affidavit regarding the time schedule in which the work is likely to be completed. The court directed to list this case on November 30.
