Municipal commissioner warns zonal officer

-

LUCKNOW: Municipal commissioner Udairaj Singh on Monday warned zonal officer of LMC zone II Sanjay Mamgai for not calculating house tax of seven non-assessed properties in Aishbagh industrial area of the city pointed out by former corporator Ganesh Kannaujia.

Kannaujia had given names of seven commercial establishments which were not even listed in the files of Lucknow Municipal Corporation tax department. These units have been allegedly saving tax for many years.

Kannaujia in his letter to the municipal authorities last month had hinted towards a possible nexus between the LMC tax department officials and the commercial establishments as they were not listed during the survey of taxable properties.

The LMC insiders allege that tax worth crores of rupees has been swindled by some officials and tax staff of the zone.

Kannaujia had earlier accused Mamgai of indulging in corruption because despite his repeated requests, the zonal officer had not assessed these properties. According to sources, zone II has maximum number of non-assessed properties besides having maximum number of properties fighting cases against the corporation in court.

Additional municipal commissioner Vishal Bharadwaj said that the zonal officer, despite two reminders, had not given any report on these properties. Mamgai had promised to submit the report before Sunday. Bhardwaj said strict action would be taken against Mamgai.
