Vigilance officer interrogates Thakur
I made it clear to the vigilance officer that I am only responsible for my properties and not for the properties belonging to my wife and other family members
AMITABH THAKUR, suspended IPS officer
Suspended IPS officer Amitabh Thakur was interrogated by a vigilance department officer on Monday in connection with the disproportionate assets case registered against him.
Daddan Chaube, the vigilance officer, interrogated Thakur for five hours at the department’s headquarters. The entire interrogation was video recorded and was also written manually.
A copy of the manually written interrogation was also handed over to Thakur.
During interrogation, Thakur was asked about his service details, date of marriage, details about his family members and expenses incurred on education of his two children.
Apart from this, the vigilance officer also asked Thakur about his moveable, immoveable properties and bank lockers of family members.
“I made it clear to the vigilance officer that I am only responsible for my properties and not for the properties belonging to my wife and other family members,” said Thakur.
Thakur had stirred a political storm in the state by releasing the text and audio of the purported telephonic conversation with Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on July 10, in which Yadav had allegedly threatened Thakur.
Next day, Thakur submitted a complaint against SP chief at the Hazratganj police station. Cops, however, rejected the application later stating that the allegations level by Thakur could not be substantiated during the inquiry.
Thereafter, an FIR against Mulayam Singh Yadav was registered on September 24 following court’s directive.
Incidentally, an FIR of rape with a Ghaziabad based Dalit woman was also lodged against Thakur and his wife at the Gomti Nagar police station only a few hours after the IPS officer had handed over the complaint letter to cops against Mulayam on July 11.
