SC allows Bar Council to start verifying advocates

The Supreme Court on Monday allowed the Bar Council of India to start the verification of advocates all over the country to weed out “fake” lawyers and also ensure that no person after registering himself as an attorney gets involved in other professions such as property dealing and business. The SC bench said it wasn’t keen to interfere with the BCI’s endeavour and that it can ‘proceed in accordance with the rules’.
