Indrani agrees to give her voice sample

MUMBAI: Co-founder of INX Media Indrani Mukerjea, key accused in the murder case of her daughter Sheena Bora, on Tuesday agreed to give her voice samples to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The agency had last month sought permission from the court to take Indrani’s voice samples. The application had been pending over her consent for more than a week since she was unwell. The agency had told the court that during the investigation, they found some conversations in female voice and to verify the same, they needed Indrani’s voice sample. After the receipt of the application, the magistrate court had issued the production warrant for Indrani on October 26, directing jail authorities to produce her on October 27. However, as she was hospitalised due to high fever, she was not produced before court. The court subsequently asked Indrani’s lawyer to consult her and inform it by Tuesday. After her consent, the magistrate court has allowed the CBI to take Indrani’s voice samples in jail premises as per the procedure in the jail manual. Indrani was arrested in the last week of August after her driver Shyamvar Rai informed the Khar police about the murder of Sheena, her daughter, in April 2012. Rai, during the interrogation, revealed involvement of Indrani as well as her exhusband Sanjeev Khanna. Ever since her arrest, all the three accused have been in custody while the case has now been transferred to the CBI.
