The King George’s Medical University (KGMU) will soon start online registration system for patients coming here. The facility, that is likely to start by the end of this year, will allow patients to print OPD tickets at home or Jan Suvidha Kendras.

The anatomy department of the King George’s Medical University (KGMU) is set to get a cadaver skill lab where medical students can practice surgeries on corpses.

Officials said the lab will have the state of the art facilities, including modern simulators that will remain active during cadaveric surgery and point out mistakes to medical students during any erroneous procedure.

Head of department prof AK Srivastava said the lab will be fitted with high tech equipment that will react just as humans do when a surgery is performed on them. “The surgeries performed in the skill lab will be similar to live surgeries done in the operating theatres, but without the risk of losing a life,” he said.

The lab would help students practice general surgery, orthopedics surgery, endoscopy, leproscopy and maxillofacial surgery on cadavers.

Surgeries performed in the skill lab can also be screened live in other departments of the medical university or even medical colleges in other parts of the state to help them learn better.
