Mystery shrouds BBA student’s death, father alleges murder

LUCKNOW: A 23-year-old management student of a city college died under mysterious circumstances at his friend’s house here in Gomti Nagar on Tuesday night.

The deceased’s friend told police that he died after falling from third floor of his building. However, the victim’s father alleged murder following which cops started quizzing three students of the same college. An FIR of murder was also registered with Gomti Nagar police in this connection.

The deceased, Sumit Kumar Singh, was a BBA Part II student of SMS Institute of Management and Technology, Gosaiganj. Sumit was staying here in a rented house near Katutha Jheel in Vibhuti Khand. The deceased’s family, however, stays in Sonebhdara where his father Fateh Bahadur Singh works with Hindaclo.

According to police, the incident came to light when the victim was admitted to Ram Manohar Lohia hospital in a critical condition on Tuesday night. Sumit died during treatment. His college friend Abhishek Singh, a B Com part II student, and two seniors - B Com Part II students Ali Nawaz and Piyush - were also present at the time of the incident.

Abhishek told police that Sumit had visited his rented house near Jaipuria School on Tuesday night and fell from the third floor of the same building accidentally.

Later the trio rushed Sumit in a neighbour’s car to the hospital, said SB Shukla, station officer (SO), Gomti Nagar police station.

The deceased’s father, who reached here on Wednesday morning, however, alleged that Abhishek had killed his son and lodged the FIR.

The SO said the deceased’s friend and his two seniors were being quizzed further in the matter.

Shukla said the body of the deceased was sent for post-mortem examination and the report was awaited.

Further course of action in the case would be decided after consulting the autopsy report, he added.
