Ex-AFMC dean is new commandant of AMC Centre
LUCKNOW: Lt Gen MD Venkatesh has become the new commandant of AMC Centre and College here. He has taken over the command from Lt Gen V Ravishankar, who retired after 38 years of service recently. Prior to this assignment, Venkatesh was the dean of prestigious Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune.
Commissioned into service on August 16, 1979 in AMC, Venkatesh is a renowned ENT surgeon who has been a pioneer in the field of cochlear implants for treatment of childhood deafness. He is also credited with establishing a bionic ear centre at AFMC, Pune.
A post-graduate teacher and examiner of various universities, Venkatesh is also an inspector of Medical council of India and National Board of Examination.
The renowned surgeon has also served in various committees of ministry of health and family welfare, GoI. For his outstanding contribution to ENT and devotion, Venkatesh was awarded Vishisht Sewa Medal (VSM) in 2013. GOC-IN-C VISITS BAREILLY MILITARY STN
Lt Gen Rajan Bakhshi, GOCinC, Central Command visited Bareilly military station on Thursday. He was received by Lt Gen Vishwambhar Singh, general officer commanding (GOC), Uttar Bharat Area. Bakhshi was briefed on issues related to Uttar Bharat Area including station matters. He also visited the Garud Division where he was briefed on operational readiness, training and welfare activities .
