Grand celebrations planned for MSY b’day in Saifai
LUCKNOW: Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav has decided to celebrate his 76th birthday on his home turf Saifai which is being decked up for the big bash on November 22. Yadav’s birthday was celebrated with much fanfare by urban development minister Mohd Azam Khan in his stronghold Rampur last year.
Besides noted music composer AR Rahman, a host of celebrities, bigwigs from politics, corporate world and eminent people from all walks of life are expected to participate in the grand event that would kick off a day before. “We are pulling out all the stops. The celebrations would start in the evening on November 21 and ‘netaji’ would cut the cake at the stroke of midnight in the athletics stadium, where preparations on war-footing are on,” said a party source.
Rahman’s orchestra comprises of around 300 musicians, and according to party sources, an advance team of the music maestro, comprising his manager, has already made an inspection of the venue.
“Netaji (Mulayam) had expressed his desire to celebrate his birthday this time in the midst of his own people in Saifai. When chief minister Akhilesh Yadav heard about this, he immediately instructed the party workers and leaders to get cracking and make the necessary arrangements,” said a party worker. Superintendent of police (SP) Saifai Arun Kumar Dixit said security would be beefed up as several VVIPs were expected to attend the function. He said, according to party estimates, around 1 lakh people would gather at the venue.
