KGMU gets Unesco tag to help improve standard of medical research in UP
The King George's Medical University (KGMU) has been made “nodal centre of Unesco chair in bioethics” for stimulating teaching of bioethics in medical research in Uttar Pradesh.
With this status, KGMU will monitor standards of research and research practices in all medical institutes in the state.
“This is a milestone achievement for KGMU. A letter of confirmation has already been received from Unesco chair of bioethics, Australia by the medical university,” said Dr Ved Prakash, medical superintendent of KGMU.
He said KGMU was awarded the status after its research standards were approved by Unesco, adding that the university would now help improve the standard of medical research in all states-run universities.
