Fight diabetes with change in life style: Doc
Change in life style, diet control and physical activity can save a person from the deadly combination of diabetes and high blood pressure.
On World Diabetes Day on Saturday, Dr Nitin Ranjan Gupta stressed on precautionary measures to check diabetes and high blood pressure. “Diabetes and high blood pressure are proving to be a deadly combo for the present generation. These two diseases also lead to several other ailments,” Dr Gupta told newsmen.
Stressing on the need to take precautionary measures against diabetes, Dr Gupta said: “Change in sedentary life style, proper diet and physical activity could play a major role in keeping diabetes away.” About 70% diabetic patients also have high blood pressure and this combination results in heart attacks and paralysis also, he added.
Dr Gupta advised people to undertake 2.5 km of walk daily along with various yogic exercises to say fit.
Expressing concern on increasing craze of fast food among children and youths, Dr Gupta stated that fast food items like pizza and burger and cola drinks were among the most harmful food items.
He stressed on avoiding oily food and laid preference on natural diets like green vegetables and pulses. Dr Gupta also advised parents on not exerting too much pressure on children to excel in studies.
