WILL I LOOK THE SAME AGAIN, SHE ASKS HOSPITAL STAFF

-

Darya Yurieva, the 23-year-old Russian woman who was attacked with acid on Friday, thanked doctors and nurses at the Sir Sundar Lal Hospital for providing her with the best possible medical care. When HT asked whether she was satisfied with the medical treatment at the hospital and whether it was good, she shook her head positively, moments before she was moved into an ambulance for being airlifted to Delhi.

“She is stable and can speak. An ophthalmologist has examined her. She is on the road to recovery,” Dr KK Gupta, chief medical superintendent at the hospital, said. He, however, said that injuries were deep. A nurse, who did not wish to be named, said Yurieva told hospital staff that the acid attack shook her. She wanted to know whether she would recover completely and whether plastic surgery would give her back her original face.

Meanwhile, the Varanasi police will launch a verification drive next week to find out the number of foreigners staying as paying guests in the city.
