LUCKNOW: A discussion on ‘ Literature and its Impact on Society in Today’s Context’ was organised in the Avadh Literary Festival at UP Press club on Sunday.

The festival was inagurated by scholar and writer Deepak Mishra. Three books, Life Nama , Kuchh Panne Dil Se and Essence of Emotions were released and poets Anees Ashfaque, Professor Kalicharan,, Qamar Jahan, Dr PK Sheth, Ramakant Yadav, Shamsuddin Azhar and Siddharth Yadav expressed their views.

The writers agreed that literature had a major impact on the youths and development of a country. It also affected society at large. In the past, literature had shaped civilisations and played an important role in the Indian freedom struggle. It had changed political systems and had the power to challenge social or and other sort of problems of society, they said.

Shamsuddin Azhar said that literature was a mirror of society and the views expressed in writings were reflections of what society was going through at the moment.

The writers demanded more freedom and security to guide the society through their writing. In his address, organiser and owner of a publishing house Umashanker Yadav promised to help and support all the young writers in their writing and publishing. He also emphasised that his mission was to help literature grow in all aspects and send a positive message to society. He promised to continue literary festivals in future and discuss the contemporary issues on a much larger scale.
