Over 12 injured in Muzaffarnagar clash
THE NEWCOMERS LOOTED SHARP EDGED WEAPONS FORM THE SHOP OF AN IRONSMITH AND ASSAULTED RIVAL
MUZAFFARNAGAR: More than 12 persons, including three women, were seriously injured in a clash between two groups in Shernagar village on Sunday. Police have taken several persons into custody and a heavy police force has been deployed in Shernagar to maintain law and order in the village.
According to police sources, a youth of Bilaspur village was going to drop his mother at his maternal uncle’s place in Shernagar village, when his motorcycle dashed against a one and a half years old child of another community. Hearing the child’s cries, his mother and others came out of their house and a quarrel took place.
The two sides soon came to fisticuffs. After this the youth informed his maternal uncle and soon a group of two dozen men arrived on the scene.
The newcomers looted sharp edged weapons form the shop of an ironsmith working in the village and started assaulting the rival group.
The rivals retaliated with heavy brickbatting, forcing the attackers to run from the scene leaving their motorbikes which were later damaged by the irate mob. About 13 people, including three women, received serious injures during the clash.
On getting information, a heavy police force under SP city Pradeep Gupta reached the spot and dispersed the crowd by resorting to lathi charge. A heavy police force has been deployed in Shernagar and Bilaspur to maintain law and order.
