UPASICON 2015: PGI TO HOLD TRAINING FOR SURGEONS

LUCKNOW: The Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) has become the third centre in the country to train surgeon as who have completed MS or DNB.

Around 80 surgeons have assembled at PGI to get trained in various branches of surgery during the 41st annual conference of Associatio­n of Surgeons of India, being organised from Friday to Sunday at Shruti auditorium.

According to professor Amit Agarwal , professor Ankur Bhatnagar and professor Ajay Upadhayaya of SGPGIMS surgery department , a rigorous pre -onference post graduate course was conducted on Thursday for trainees and junior surgeons followed by question-answer session.

However, the conference is supposed to take the art of surgery to a new level in the state. That is why the theme of the conference is kept ‘Future of General Surgery-Competence by Design’.

Expert faculty from all over country has arrived to deliberate on a wide variety of operative procedures in the three-day long knowledge fiesta, including live surgeries and didactic lectures in the treatment of various surgical problems.

The organising committee of UPASICON 2015 has decided to provide compliment­ary registrati­on for all senior surgeons of over 70 years of age. Small informal session with these senior stalwarts will be held and the senior surgeons will also be felicitate­d.

The sessions will include hands on training on simulator, laparoscop­ic surgery, bariatric surgery, vascular Doppler for RFA of varicose veins etc and telecast of live surgeries followed by deliberati­ons and question-answer sessions.
