-

The state government on Thursday sought more time from the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court for filing reply and bringing more details of merger of bungalows in the city of Lucknow irrespective of parties. The court listed the matter related to former UP chief minister Mayawati’s bungalow on December 9.

Earlier on October 28, 2015, the high court had directed the estate officer of Uttar Pradesh to appear before it on November 19 in the matter relating to allotment of bungalow to Mayawati to inform it as to how many bungalows had been merged in the city of Lucknow in an identical manner.

In this regard, the state counsel on Thursday filed a supplementary affidavit (reply) which was taken on record by the court. It also directed that the estate officer, who was present on Thursday, need not appear

again unless called for. The state counsel sought more time for bringing more details in the matter. A division bench of justice Satyendra Singh Chauhan and justice Aditya Nath Mittal gave this order on a public interest litigation (PIL) petition filed by ML Yadav in 2013 seeking direction to produce all the records of bungalow No. 9 in Mall Avenue here and make clear under which procedure/channel it was ultimately allegedly transferred in Mayawati’s name.

He also sought direction for a detailed inquiry by an independent agency like CBI in this matter.

The petitioner further sought direction to remove/ demolish all the alleged illegal encroachment/construction raised in bungalow No. 4, 12, 14 an 16 situated on Gurudwara Raqabganj Road, New Delhi. The petitioner alleged that in the four bungalows in New Delhi, illegal construction was made by Mayawati. He said bungalow No.9 in Mall Avenue here was transferred in her name in an illegal and arbitrary manner.
