Bishan Singh Bedi was primarily a slow left-arm bowler. He served Indian cricket from 1966 to 1979 and formed the famous spin quartet along with E Prasanna, S Venkataraghavan and B Chandrasekhar. He also captained the Indian side for 22 test matches. In 1990, he had a brief stint as coach of the Indian team and was the first person to be appointed to this job in a full-time capacity
