Sunil wins open title of Avijai chess

LUCKNOW: Sunil Srivastava with maximum possible five points in the open category of the 48th leg of Avijai Active Chess Tournament emerged victorious here on Sunday. At the Avijai Chess Academy, David Yung, Vinay Mishra and Farooq with four points each finished second, third and fourth, respective­ly.

In the under-20 category, Satwik Gupta of Mumbai finished top with four points, Yash Bajpai scored 3.5 points to finish second, whereas Somendra Shekhar with three points finished third. In the under-18 category, Suyash Shukla from Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthaan scored three and finished first. Harsh Vardhan and Rohit Singh finished second and third, respective­ly.

Sahil Mishra scored three points to emerge victorious in under-12 category. He was followed by Utkarsh Dixit and Kartik Mishra. In the under10 category Saksham Mishra, Agrima Srivastava and Ansh Awasthi stood first, second and third, respective­ly. DISTRICT CHESS The Avijai Chess Academy would be conducting the 4th Ramkripal Tewari Memorial District Chess Tournament from December 2 to 6. BSNVIC WIN Favourites BSNV Inter College (BSNVIC) lifted the Mallick Memorial Inter-Collegiate Cricket Cup, defeating Indian Public Inter College (IPIC) by 23 runs, at the Chandra Bhanu Gupta Ground here on Sunday. Batting first after winning the toss, BSNV College managed 126 for two in the stipulated 20 overs. In reply, IPIC could make 103 for eight. CRICKET TOURNEY A twenty20 cricket tournament in memory of Pt Raas Bihari Tewari begins on Monday, at the Pt Raas Bihari Tewari here under the auspices of the DAV College. The final is slated for December 10. SCHOOL TENNIS The Millennium School girls won the Under-10 title in the Inter-School Tennis Championsh­ip here on Sunday. Loreto Convent claimed the under-12 title, whereas CMS (Gomti Nagar) girls bagged the under-18 and under-14 teams titles. In the boys category, LMC won the under-10 and 12 titles, whereas DPS got u-14 crown.
