A DOCTOR MISBEHAVED WITH THE NURSE WHEN THERE WAS A DELAY IN PREPARATION OF A PATIENT’S REPORT BUT NO ACTION WAS TAKEN AGAINST THE DOCTOR

LUCKNOW: Nursing staff of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS) here abstained from work on Monday to protest against alleged misbehaviour by a doctor with one of their colleagues on Saturday.

According to the nurses, their colleague was asked to prepare a patient’s report by a doctor on Saturday evening.

However, the doctor misbehaved with her when there was a delay in preparation of the report. A complaint was also lodged immediately over the incident.

However, when no action was taken against the doctor, the nursing staff resorted to work boycott.

Since morning on Monday, the nurses abstained from their routine responsibilities. Being a busy and first working day of the week, patients at the hospital had to suffer.

A long queue of patients was seen in the OPD even as clerical staff remained on duty.

Senior doctors of the institute tried to convince the nurses for work but they remained on strike and demanded action in the case.

Later, technicians of the institute too joined the nurses in protest and abstained from work for over two hours.

The nurses resumed their work after the RMLIMS authorities announced that a committee would probe the charges and take necessary action.

A seven member committee will now probe the matter and submit its report.
