Communal clash victim’s family to meet Akhilesh

-

ALIGARH: The family of Gaurav, killed during the recent Delhi Gate riots in the city, will meet chief minister Akhilesh Yadav in Lucknow on Wednesday.

It is expected that the CM will announce more compensation for the kin along with a house and offer of a government job to one member of the victim’s family.

Aligarh MLA, Zafar Alam, SP district president, Ashok Yadav and Aligarh city president, Ajju Ishaq will accompany the family to Lucknow.

Gaurav had succumbed to his injuries during treatment at medical college on November 13.

Bharatiya Janata Party leaders had demanded compensation of `45 lakh for his family, equal to what had been extended to the relatives of Akhlaq, lynched over beef-eating rumours in Dadri.

The party leaders had also sought a house and government job for Gaurav’s kin. At that time, DM Aligarh had presented a cheque of `10 lakh to the victim’s family, which was considered inadequate by them. The family sat on dharna to register protest.

Later, Zafar Alam and local leaders of SP had met the kin and assured them of help in seeking better compensation. A meeting with CM was scheduled for November 23 but had to be postponed.

In this connection, SP district president, Ashok Yadav said, “Gaurav’s kin will meet CM on December 2 in Lucknow.” Thes family would be represented by Gaurav’s mother Vimla Devi, brother Nitin and cousin Rajesh, he informed.

Earlier, governor Ram Naik had met the aggrieved family on November 28 and had assured them of all possible help.
