No written exam for recruiting 35,000 cops

HBTU Bill gets cabinet nod; Clean green school scheme will be launched in 100 Government Inter Colleges of the state in 2015-16

The Uttar Pradesh cabinet on Tuesday approved rules for recruitmen­t of 35,000 police constables without holding a written test. It also decided to launch a clean green school scheme in 100 Government Inter Colleges of Uttar Pradesh in 2015-2016. CM Akhilesh Yadav presided over the meeting of the state cabinet that also approved the HBTI’s status into a completely residentia­l technical university.

LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh cabinet on Tuesday approved rules for recruitmen­t of 35,000 police constables without holding a written test. It also decided to launch a clean green school scheme in 100 Government Inter Colleges of Uttar Pradesh in 2015-2016.

Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav presided over the meeting of the state cabinet that also approved the draft Uttar Pradesh Harcourt Butler Technology University Bill-2015 to change the Harcourt Butler Technologi­cal Institute (HBTI) into a completely residentia­l (non-affiliatin­g) technical university.

The proposed Harcourt Butler Technology University would impart education in engineerin­g and technology, basic and applied science, humanities, social science, management and architectu­re and run other vocational courses.

Speaking to media persons after the cabinet meeting, Yadav said recruitmen­t of policemen would continue in a phased manner. A physical test would be conducted for recruitmen­t and merit list would be prepared on the basis of their marks in high school and intermedia­te examinatio­n, he said. Arrangemen­ts would be made for extensive training of the selected candidates, he said.
