Shilpa Rao, Chang take Ganj carnival audience by storm
LUCKNOW: Bollywood singer Shilpa Rao and Meiyang Chang set the stage ablaze with their brilliant performance at the Ganj mega carnival on Sunday.
The superb renditions of both the artistes left the audience spellbound, with many saying that undoubtedly it was one of the best and most successful Ganj carnivals since inception.
The chants of ‘once more’, more after the popular number Sajde mein sar jhukta hai , Tere hi age rukta hai , khuda jaane kyon, forced the singers to sing the song again for Lucknowites who had gathered in large numbers on the beautifully decked up Ganj street.
Youths danced and sang behind the singers, giving them thumbs up after each performance.
The audience greeted Shilpa Rao with a thunderous applause when she sang tose naina lage re sanware , maula mere . She followed this with Mudi Mudi from film Paa and several other songs.
Such was the craze of Shilpa Rao that many people crossed the barricades to shake hands with her despite heavy police force. However, Shilpa didn’t disappoint her fans as she repeatedly climbed down the stage to make the audience sing. The direct connect with the audience made her performance special.
Earlier, two hand shadow artistes Sabyasachi and Amar Sen enthralled the audience with their unique art form through which they created pictures of Saurav Ganguly, Rabindra Nath Tagore and other noted people.
Sabya Sachi and Amar Sen are considered one the best artists in hand shadowgraphy. They have introduced this unique art form which is a combination of their hands and fingers against a blank screen, telling stories with complete audio-visual ef f ect. T he Dehradoon Drummers with their unique band also put up a great show along with local band Diabolical Damage.
Divisional commissioner Mahesh Gupta was the chief guest at the programme and principal secretary, tourism Amrit Abhijat and director information Ashutosh Niranjan were guests of honour.
