LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav has ordered that CT scan machines be provided to medical colleges in Allahabad, Meerut, Gorakhpur and Kannauj. The Kanpur medical college would get an MRI machine too.

The CM’s move is aimed at bettering the state of medical education services in the state. A government spokesman said during his Gorakhpur visit on Thursday, the CM inaugurated an MRI machine for Gorakhpur medical college.

“Since coming to power in the state, the UP government has been consistently attempting to improve the medical delivery system. The spokesman added, “The UP government has also increased 500 seats and the launch of 108 and 102 ambulance services has further eased the woes of the people, especially in rural areas.” The spokesman said that several new medical colleges were expected to come up in the state. Some of them are under construction.

“All these efforts have seen credibility of government medical colleges and hospitals going up. Health indicators too have improved and there has been a drastic fall in mother and child mortality rate,” the spokesman said.
