State govt, Tata Trusts set for partnershi­p

LUCKNOW: The state government and Tata Trusts would enter into a long-term partnershi­p in community developmen­t related works by signing a multidimen­sional memorandum of understand­ing (MoU) to give a concrete shape to this partnershi­p here on Monday.

Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav and Tata Trusts chairman Ratan Tata would be present on the occasion. An official spokesman said the Tata Trusts would provide support to the state government in its endeavours in poverty alleviatio­n, employment generation, increasing income and infrastruc­ture developmen­t.

A joint state-level steering committee comprising representa­tives of the state gov- ernment and the Tata Trusts would be constitute­d to ensure proper execution of work and effective monitoring. The sectors in which the state government and the Tata Trusts would work together include motherinfa­nt health, preparing and implementa­tion of a nutrition programme for better health of mother and child and special efforts in checking anaemia among women.

The MoU provides for developing a mechanism that would enable detection of cancer at an early stage.

A cancer registry would be prepared. Both sides would work together to ensure quality education and job-oriented training in various sectors. The MoU includes initiative­s in developing off-grid solar energy as well as solar energy based irrigation system among others.
