MET: SUNDAY NIGHT COLDEST, EXPECT RAIN TODAY, TOMORROW

LUCKNOW: After the foggy Saturday morning, on Sunday the night temperatur­es plummeted to 4 degrees that was 3 degrees below normal, making it the coldest night so far in January. As per the weatherman, there is possibilit­y of rainfall at some places across the state on Monday and Tuesday. Maximum and minimum temperatur­es would be similar to Saturday.

LUCKNOW: The state capital got a taste of the January chill on Sunday, as the minimum temperatur­e plummeted to 4 degrees Celsius (3 degrees below normal), making it the coldest night so far this month.

As per the weatherman, there was possibilit­y of rain at some places across UP on Monday and Tuesday.

On Sunday, Lucknow witnessed cold wave conditions with the day temperatur­e recorded at 18.3 degrees that was 4 degrees below normal. State Met director JP Gupta said, “The dip in the temperatur­e was due to northweste­rly winds. The winds from snow-clad mountains are adding to the chill.”

While clear skies have been predicted for Lucknow on Monday, fog is likely to occur in the morning hours, said the Met department’s forecast, adding that dense to very dense fog was likely at isolated places in UP.

Lucknow remained the coldest in the state on the day, sharing the same night temperatur­e with Jhansi. This was followed by Kanpur where minimum temperatur­e was recorded at 4.3 degrees, Agra 5.6 degrees and Banda 5 degrees. The minimum temperatur­es remained below 10 degrees at all stations across UP while the day temperatur­es remained below 20 degrees at most stations.
