Cops detain another rickshaw-puller

LUCKNOW: Cops detained yet another rickshaw-puller on Friday, in connection with the sensational gang rape and murder of a Class 12 student of a prominent school in the city. The rickshaw puller was nabbed from his native place Barabanki.

Two other rickshaw pullers, Satguru and Deepu, are already behind bars.

“The third rickshaw-puller suspected to be involved in the student’s murder has been arrested. He is a close associate of Satguru and Deepu, who are in prison,” said a senior cop.

“Interrogation is going on and we expect more revelations from the third rickshaw-puller,” added the cop.

The girl went missing after she left her house in Jankipuram for her school in Vikas Nagar on a bicycle on the morning of February 10. However, she did not go to school and CCTV footage suggested that she reached near Gold Club.

Her parents then lodged an FIR with the Jankipuram police.

The girl’s cell phone location was traced on February 13 to Haidergarh, the native place of Satguru. Cops recovered the cell phone from Satguru’s mother.

Thereafter, the two rickshawpullers were tracked down on February 14 in Lucknow. Later, the girl’s body was recovered on their revelations from behind the Lucknow zoo on Park Road.

Two caddies of Golf Club, Michael and Naseer, who were also aware of the body lying on the spot, were taken into custody for interrogation on February 16.

During investigation, it came to light both the rickshaw-pullers and the two caddies had sex with the corpse of the girl after consuming marijuana.
