TODAY, NO QUEUES FOR WOMEN AT FUEL STATIONS

-

LUCKNOW: Women won’t have to wait in queues to get petrol or diesel as fuel stations across the city have been asked to give priority to consumers belonging to the fair sex on Women’s Day.

The district administration’s order also states that each petrol pump should have dedicated washroom for women and provisions for ensuring its cleanliness. Fines would be imposed on fuel stations that fail to ensure clean toilets.

All fuel stations have been asked to display messages of women empower ment and women safety laws. The administration’s directive also calls for display of 1090 Women Powerline logo at petrol pumps.

Hindustan Petroleum has already introduced ‘Nari Shakti’ petrol filling stations in some districts. These places have special filling units for women drivers. “The idea is to ensure all convenience for women drivers at petrol pumps and thus provisions for dedicated room for women with facilities like clean toilets, changing room and rest room, snacks etc have been made,” said Vishal Bajpai, senior regional manager, Hindustan Petroleum. In Lucknow, the ‘Nari Shakti’ petrol pump on VIP road would facilitate women with free pollution check, free eye check-up and free petrol vouchers on the occasion of Women’s Day. There would also be gifts and other surprises for women on the day.
