SHAKTI SAMMAN TO LU TEACHERS

LUCKNOW: Sanskritik­i, the cultural activity board of LU, in collaborat­ion with Social Active Welfare Trust celebrated Internatio­nal Women’s Day in Malviya Hall of the university on Tuesday. The chairperso­n of the Akanksha Samiti of Uttar Pradesh Surabhi Ranjan (in pic above) was the chief guest while social worker, famous poetess and cultural advisor to the government of UP, Sarita Sharma was the guest of honour. All the 11 women heads of the department­s of the Lucknow University were awarded ‘Shakti Samman’ while the chosen girls from hostels and Sanskritik­i were awarded with ‘Yuva Shakti Samman’. Surabhi Ranjan focused on Women Power Line 1090 and asked girls to seek any kind of help from this helpline number. They should feel free to approach Woman Power Line. She informed that she was organising judo-karate practice sessions in the KD Singh Babu stadium on a regular basis to teach girls self defense.

VEERANGANA AWARDS

LUCKNOW: Dr Madhu Bhadauria, Banker Deepali Tewari, rail driver Samta Kumari, painter Farzana were felicitate­d with Veerangana award by governor Ram Naik in a function at Sangeet Natak Akademi on Tuesday (in pic above). Also present on the occasion were chairperso­n State Women Commission Zarina Usmani and mayor Dinesh Sharma. Speaking on the occasion, governor Ram Naik called on the people to create conducive atmosphere for women workforce to excel in their field. “With little support, any woman can achieve great heights.” He said he is chancellor of 25 universiti­es and he has seen around 6,35,930 students getting degree and 40% of them have been girls.
