Realtor shot dead, brother and his friend held

A realtor was shot dead allegedly by his younger brother and his friend over monetary dispute in Talkatora here on Wednesday morning.

The incident took place on a busy road near Ran Laxmi Bai hospital where the accused intercepted realtor Rajesh Kumar Singh and opened fire on him after a scuffle.

Witnesses said the assailants remained at the crime scene after committing the crime and even allowed passersby to take the victim to KGMU’s trauma centre where he succumbed to his injuries later.

Police arrested the assailants from the crime spot.

The deceased, Rajesh Kumar Singh, a resident of Sheetalapuram, was in real estate business for the last 10 years. He also used to manage a cab stand in Charbagh. The assailants have been identified as his younger brother Brijesh Kumar Singh and his friend Ajay Pandey.

The deceased’s father Kapil Dev Singh told police that relations between the two brothers were strained for the past many weeks and both of them had had a fight over financial matter on Tuesday night. He said Brijesh and his friend had beaten up Rajesh and even resorted to firing in air.

On Wednesday mor ning. Brijesh and his friend chased Rajesh when the latter left the house and intercepted him near Rani Laxmi Bai hospital, where Brijesh shot him.

District police spokesman, Alok Pathak said the deceased’s father had lodged an FIR of murder against Brijesh, his friend and his driver with Talkatora police station. Police have seized a rifle and revolver from them.
