1500 athletes to participat­e in Indo-Lanka meet

LUCKNOW: Over 1500 athletes, including 30 from Sri Lanka, would be seen in action in the 36th Internatio­nal Invitation­al Indo-Sri Lanka Masters Meet, starting Thursday, at the Guru Govind Singh Sports College here. Among the participan­ts, there would be 300 women athletes of 30-85 years of age. In all 100 athletes from UP would also be participat­ing in the fourday meet. WEEKLY BRIDGE The duo of RP Srivastava and VNP Shah earned 67.73% to win the match point pairs event of the weekly bridge tournament, at the Lucknow Club here. In all, 12 pairs played 11 rounds of twp boards each. Srivastava and Shah won with a margin of just over a board and with a very good score. They had 12 tops, four above average scores and no zeros in their score. AC Srivastava-SA Abbasi (62.27%) and GN Mehrotra-DC Gupta (61.36%) finished second and third, respective­ly. PRASHANT SHINES Prashant Singh hammered a sparkling century as Sound Images Club (SIC) crushed IPRK by 214 runs to collect full points in the Tauqeer Memorial Cricket League, at the Northern Railway Stadium here on Wednesday.

Prasgant struck 107 in 65 balls with the help of 11 fours and four sixes, whereas Milind Chaturvedi hit 76-ball 93, which contained 13 boundaries, as Sound Images piled up 328 for four in stipulated 40 overs while batting first after winning the toss. In reply, IPRK collapsed for paltry 114 in 32.4 overs. Sehwaz Khan took five for nine in 4.4 overs.
