AGRA: An image showing three foreign students allegedly dicing beef for a party at the Kendriya Hindi Sansthan campus in Agra on Friday has triggered a controversy after it was shared widely on WhatsApp. Officials of the institute have denied the incident took place on the campus and that is was part of a conspiracy to malign the image of the institute.

Sensation gripped the city after pictures of students allegedly cooking beef in the premises of Kendriya Hindi Sansthan, an institute run by the ministry of human resource development, went viral late on Friday night.

In the pictures, three foreign students are seen chopping the flesh allegedly inside the institute hostel.

The photos created panic in the institute’s management and the local administration. The city magistrate Rekha S Chauhan and ASP Anurag Vats visited the institute’s premises and met registrar Dr CK Tripathi.

Though Dr Tripathi identified two of the three boys in the pic- tures as the institute’s students, one from Bulgaria and another from Turkey, he denied that they cooked beef. He said the allegations are untrue and dismissed them as an attempt to malign the institute’s image. “We made an eight-member committee. Prima facie it looks like no beef party was organized in the institute’s on-campus hostel,” told Tripathi while talking to HT on Saturday.

“The photo went viral on social media but upon investigation it was learnt that no such party had taken place. We will enquire if such a party was organized earlier,” said ASP Anurag Vats, who visited the premises with city magistrate Rekha S Chauhan.

“We are waiting for the report from Kendriya Vidyalaya. Investigation is on,” Vats added.
