AKTU to draw M Tech students as faculty
TEACHER SHORTAGE Under CV Raman teaching assistance programme, about 50 M Tech students will be selected
LUCKNOW: In a bid to address the shortage of teachers, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) has decided to engage M Tech students of affiliated colleges of the varsity as teaching assistants and provide them proper remuneration.
Under the CV Raman Teaching Assistance Programme, about 50 M Tech students will be selected for the teaching assistant posts.
In the case of private institutions, 50% remuneration of the teaching assistants will be provided by the university and the remaining amount will be borne by the institute, AKTU vice-chancellor Vinay Pathak said, adding the decision was taken at the academic council meeting on Saturday.
Another scheme called Homi Bhabha Teaching Assistance Prog ramme has also been launched for PhD students by the varsity. Under this scheme, 50 PhD students will get selected as teaching assistants.
The AKTU academic council has also acce pted the Vishwaswaraiya Research Promotion Scheme which will provide research fund to teachers, who are working in university-affiliated institutions.
The university has invited 50 research proposals in different areas under the scheme. A panel of experts will evaluate them. An amount of ` 5 lakh each will be provided by the university to selected research scholars for their projects.
