-

LUCKNOW: All India Majlis-eIttehadul Muslimeen chief Asaduddin Owaisi was accorded a warm welcome by students at the Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama here on Monday where he went to meet its principal Saeedur Rehman.

When the students came to know to know about the arrival of Asaduddin Owaisi on the campus, they came out of their classes and greeted the AIMIM chief. The students chanted the slogan ‘Owaisi Owaisi’ and ‘Owaisi zindabad’. Principal Saeedur Rehman had to instruct the students to return to their classrooms.

Owaisi, who was to take part in the afternoon namaz at the Nadwa mosque, returned after meeting the principal without attending the namaz.

The AIMIM chief also met prominent Shia cleric Kalbe Jawad. Owaisi’s meeting with the Shia cleric had many political connotations as the cleric has been critical of the Samajwadi Party government.

Jawad’s war of words with senior Samajwadi Party leader and urban development minister Azam Khan is no secret. The closed-door meeting between Owaisi and Jawad lasted a few minutes.

The Shia cleric dubbed it a courtesy meeting only. After arriving in Lucknow, the AIMIM chief went to Deva Sharif, the dargah of a Sufi saint, in the adjoining Barabanki district. BLACK FLAGS SHOWN

The AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi was also shown black flags after he arrived at the Bulaki Adda to meet party workers.

Four persons arrived at the Bulaki Adda crossing after Owaisi’s motorcade reached there and waved black flags to the AIMIM chief. The agitators also raised the slogan ‘Owaisi go back’. However, the AIMIM workers, who were present in large numbers, chased away the agitators.
