Dev Anand once more: Last film set for May release

- Anupam Srivastava

LUCKNOW: There’s good news for fans of Bollywood legend Dev Anand as the late actor’s last film ‘Aman Ke Farishtey’ is all set to release this May.

The film -- on terrorism -- was completed in 1992 but got delayed due to several reasons.

However Dev Anand, known for his unique style and dialogue delivery, has the potential to deliver a box office hit even today, believes Sohan Bhatia, producer of the film Bhatia, who was in the state capital on a personal visit, said: “I nitially we were hesitant to release the film. We didn’t know how the audience would react. But after Dev Sahab’s demise we got several emails and letters from his fans demanding the release of the film.”

“A pre-launch survey also showed positive results. People still love Dev Sahab, not only in India but also in USA, UK, Europe, Gulf, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Russia, Tajikistan and Turkey. We will organise pre-launch activities in every city before the release,” added Bhatia.

“As cinema technology has undergone drastic changes since 1992, we decided to release the film only after it was digitised according to the present day standards. Now that digitization is complete, the audience will feel the film was shot just yesterday. In fact, some special effects have been added that will mesmerise the audience,” added Bhatia.

Bhatia is confident that since Dev Anand was popular among the younger generation the film will strike a chord with them.

The story has been presented in such a way that the audience will connect with it.

The Hema Malini, Javed Jafferey, Asif Sheikh and Ekta starrer will do well at the box office, hoped Bhatia. Music for the film has been composed by Bappi Lahiri while the songs have been written by Bhatia himself. Dev Anand’s son Sunil Anand has promised full support to the film. “Sunil also has a great understanding of cinema. He has promised to support me as he is also excited about the release of his father’s last film,” said Bhatia.

During his lifetime Dev Anand did only nine films outside his home production Navketan films that he formed in 1949. ‘Aman Ke Farishtey’ was the last of these films that he chose because of its strong storyline and youth-connect, added Bhatia.
