RESEARCH SCHOLAR FOUND DEAD IN CDRI HOSTEL
LUCKNOW: A 28-year-old research scholar was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a hostel room of the Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI) in Jankipuram here late on Tuesday night. Police suspected it was a suicide case but the exact cause of death could not be ascertained in the post-mortem examination. The deceased, Chandra Prakash Gupta, hailing from Siddarthnagar was doing research at the CDRI for the last three years and stayed in the hostel of CDRI new campus in Jankipuram.

Police suspected it was a suicide case but the exact cause of death could not be ascertained in the post-mortem examination.
T he deceased, Chandra Prakash Gupta, hailing from Siddar t hna g ar was doing research at the CDRI for the last three years and stayed in the hostel of CDRI new campus in Jankipuram. The incident was reported after some hostel inmates came to call him for dinner and alerted the police after finding his room locked from inside.
“Preliminary probe hinted towards suicide, as the room was locked from inside and there was no other way to enter. The body was found when we broke into the room after getting information about the incident,” said Gopal Yadav, station officer, Jankipuram police station.
However, the exact reason behind the extreme step could not be ascertained.
Yadav said the body was found lying on the bed when the police team broke into the room. It had turned blue, which hinted that he had consumed some poisonous substance. But the doctors could not ascertain the exact cause of death in the post-mortem examination.
He said the doctors too suspected poisoning and preserved the viscera to conduct further examination.
