A seven-member technical committee visited the Faizabad treasury on Wednesday to start sorting the belongings of Gumnami Baba in order to display the articles in the gallery of the Ram Katha Sangrahalaya, Ayodhya, for the public.

Many believe that Gumnami Baba was actually Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in disguise and he spent the last few years of his life in Faizabad.

The committee headed by State Museum (Lucknow) director Dr Ajay Pandey reopened nine boxes of Gumnami Baba which were kept in the Faizabad treasury and identified 122 items for public display at the Ram Katha Sangrahalaya (Museum), which is being constructed by Awas Vikas Parishad in Ayodhya.

The identification process started on Wednesday under the supervision of additional district magistrate (City) RN Sharma, deputy collector Brij Kishor Dubey, chief treasury officer Rajesh Pandey, administrative officer Satwant Singh Sethi and local BJP leader Shakti Singh.

The listing of items of Gumnami Baba had started from February 26 this year in compliance with an Allahabad high court order of January 31, 2013 to keep his belongings at the Ram Katha Museum, Ayodhya.

Dr Ajay Pandey said the identification process would continue till the last box was reopened. He also added that the identified items would be chemically treated before being displayed.

The other technical experts who participated in process of identification of items included National Archives director Robina Beg, Professor of Ancient History and Archeology from Lucknow University Dr. Anoop Chakravarti, conservator (state museum) Rajeev Khare, DG rank officer from National Museum P.B.V. Kharbade, chemical analyist (state museum) Mahaveer Singh Chauhan, officiating deputy director of Ram Katha Sangrahalaya Yogeshwar Kumar and Sharada Prasad Tripathi from the state museum.
