CM visits B’khand, promises relief all through summers
LUCKNOW : Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday announced that his government would continue with the distribution of ‘Samajwadi Drought Relief Material’ among the residents of Bundelkhand all through the summers.
The CM also offered a package of about 12 development projects to Lalitpur, one of the worst drought-hit districts of Uttar Pradesh.
Under the ‘Samajwadi Drought Relief Material’, the state government provides 10kg wheat flour, 5kg rice, 5kg ‘chane ki dal’ (pulses), 25kg potatoes, 5litres of mustard oil, 1kg of pure ghee and 1kg milk powder to the Antyodaya families of Bundelkhand region.
Yadav laid foundation stone and dedicated to public about 12 development projects worth Rs 91 crore.
He assured more development to the people of the region.
Addressing a meeting in Ginnaut Bagh in Lalitpur district, the chief minister said the development wave was sweeping across the state.
Targeting the BJP, Akhilesh said the Centre was not doing anything for the development of Bundelkhand though a large number of MPs were elected from the region. He also targeted the BSP saying instead of bringing about development to the region, the BSPleaders indulged in their own development and many of them were in jail now.
The chief minister said the state government had provided additional funds for installation of more handpumps in the drought-hit areas of the region. He said the state government would not allow shortage of foodgrains and drinking water in the region.
He also assured the people of developing Deogarh region as a tourist destination.
He distributed the relief material, Kanya Vidya dhan, laptops and Samajwadi pension to 1,936 beneficiaries and pulled up officers for poor condition of roads in Deogarh village.
He held a ‘chaupal’ in ladvari village and heard the problems of the people and later offered a ‘chadar’ at the ‘dargah’ of Baba Sadanshah.
